Being a Backyard Humanitarian not only allows Jennifer to give back to her hometown of Stamford, but also provides a way for her to stay connected with friends and make new ones. Jennifer has proudly served as a Backyard Humanitarian since 2010.
While earning her undergrad degree in Politics on the west coast, Jennifer volunteered at the Volunteer Center of San Francisco, a non-profit organization that connected volunteers with other non-profits. The experience enabled her to understand the various needs as well as support systems that co-exist within a community.
One week after moving from NYC back to Fairfield County, September 11th happened. Jennifer immediately signed on to work with Safe Horizons, a non-profit based in NYC offering immediate financial assistance to those directly affected by the tragedy. This experience illustrated how an organization can help those in need quickly without having to deal with the red tape typically associated with disaster assistance programs.
With their grassroots spirit and effective action, Jennifer has found a perfect match with Backyard Humanitarian. The opportunity to work with her long-time friend, Angela, was the “icing on the cake!"
In addition to being a Backyard Humanitarian, Jennifer considers herself blessed to be a mom, wife, sister, aunt and daughter. In her spare time, she continues to pursue her passion for photography.
