Please join us and donate a guitar for "Six Strings for Soldiers", a new music therapy program for recent combat veterans at the Connecticut Veteran's Healthcare System-PTSD Clinic. The program will loan a veteran a guitar and teach him/her how to play. After mastering basic guitar techniques, the veteran gets to keep the guitar. Only 5 guitars are needed to start this program.  KICK OFF NIGHT - WITH JUMP THE GUNN! Our areas favorite new Country Band!

About PTSD With War Veterans: Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a response to an experience of overwhelming traumatic events. It is a serious condition that sometimes affects veterans with combat or other military experiences (e.g., peacekeeping). It can affect veterans of any age, culture, or gender.
MUSIC THERAPY:
Many veterans have found some measure of relief from PTSD symptoms by participating in music therapy as well as in more traditional talking and pharmacological treatments. Reports of less frequent nightmares, insomnia, depression, and agitation provided data to support the theory that a PTSD sufferer's quality of life might be improved by this relatively simple, non-invasive technique.
