Help Springdale Neighborhood Assoc / Springdale Cleanup
Saturday May 18th, 9am

Picture
Each year in the spring, the Springdale Neighborhood Association organizes a clean-up along Hope St. This year they are enlisting our help. If you can give a hand, it would be greatly appreciated. Also, roadwork is being done along Hope St to widen the road, create turning lanes, adding new sidewalks, trees, etc to beautify the neighborhood, a project that has been 10 yrs in the making.

The cleanup is for May 18 from 9-12, meeting at park by Amore's resturant. Their goal for this year (due to construction starting down there soon), is to focus on the train station and working their way north and south on Hope street and Camp avenue. They would also like to clean up the old cemeteries that are along Hope street if they have the help.

**Also they will be having a plant sale too.
Rain or shine!

About Girl Rising:
Official Girl Rising Trailer
Girl Rising is a global campaign for girls’ education. We use the power of storytelling to share the simple truth that educating girls can transform societies. Girl Rising unites girls, women, boys and men who believe every girl has the right to go to school and the right to reach her full potential. Our mission is to change the way the world values the girl.Everything we do is to ensure that girls’ education is part of the mainstream conversation.  We raise awareness about the issue, inspire action and drive resources to our partners, and together we make change happen.  We do this through film and other tools, such as educational and advocacy videos, screening guides and a free standards-aligned school curriculum.

About Timothy Coppola:
Glen and Peggy Coppola started the bike helmet giveaway in 1995 after the death of their only child, Timothy, died at the age of 10 from traumatic brain injury (TBI). In late August of 1992 Timothy (then age 8) was involved in a car/bicycle accident resulting in this injury. This accident occurred less than 300 feet from their home.

Timothy sustained a terrible debilitating brain injury resulting in multiple brain operations including having a large portion of his skull removed (and then later a plate to replace the missing skull fragment), a large section of his brain removed, the insertions of several "shunts" to remove brain fluid, surgery that required skin grafting, surgery to cut both heel cords as well as multiple other surgeries.

Timothy always wore a helmet except that one time.
